Earthquake Engineering

Introduction

Earthquake engineering is concerned with the analysis and design of civil engineering structures subjected to earthquakes, such as buildings, bridges, dams, etc. Its goal is to minimize the consequences of future seismic hazard. Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, being crossed by several major faults, therefore, Earthquake Engineering is a very attractive and important major in Iran.

Several Elective and required courses are offered in this division, and Students have the chance to directly interact with some of the professors who have active connections with the best design and consulting companies in the area of earthquake and structural engineering. The elective courses offered in this division for graduate students provide a foundation in design, seismic evaluation of structures, earthquake hazards and risk analysis.
